Bonn was the political capital of the Federal Republic of Germany up to 1999 and is a cultural centre today. Whether it is a visit to the Museum Mile, a stroll through the historic old city or on the trail of the most famous son of the city, Ludwig van Beethoven, you will be anything but bored.

The Bonn Christmas Market nestles between atmospherically lit façades and against a festive backdrop on Muensterplatz, Bottlerplatz and Friedensplatz, Vivatsgasse, Windeckstrasse and Poststrasse. The majority of the more than 170 stalls traditionally offer a wide range of gift ideas in the run-up to Christmas. You can buy cribs, handicrafts, pottery, jewellery, items made of wood, Advent and Christmas accessories, leatherware and textiles and beeswax candles straight from the beekeeper. There are also plenty of food and drink options.
7th to 9th June 2024
Around 30 balloon teams and airships from Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands are expected to take part in the Balloon Festival. Along with balloon rides over Rheinaue, there will also be a chance to see what the balloons look like on the inside. The traditional night glow that takes place in the "Blumenwiese" flower meadow on Saturday evening is a sight not to be missed.
